Wat Phra Samut Chedi is located opposite to Samut Prakan City Hall in village no.3, Ban Chedi, Pak Khlong Bang Pla Kot Sub-district, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan. This temple is a symbol of the province, where people typically come to pay their respects. People in this area commonly call it as "Floating Pagoda" because the former construction site of Phra Samut Chedi was the island surrounded by water, then the right shallow bank accreted and connected to the island. Samut Prakan is the city built in the Ayutthaya period. The old town is located in Phra Pradaeng District and known as “Phra Pradaeng City” where was a place of accommodation for foreigners who made contact with Thailand for the commerce. Once, there was a strong moat camp fortress at the shore. But it was later pulled down by the command of King Taksin.
